Sydney Butcher

(Dec. 29, 1944) - Pfc. Sydney C. Butcher, of 73 Overlook Terrace, and Pvt. Arthur Leithauser, 34, of 28 Ridge Road, have been listed among those killed in action in France, according to official War Department telegrams.

Mr. and Mrs. George Butcher received the telegram last Thursday and a letter of verification Tuesday saying their son Sydney had been killed Nov. 24.

Born in England, Pfc. Butcher came to the States with his family when he was ten years old. He attended Park school, was graduated from Nutley High school.

Butcher is buried at the Epinal American Cemetery, Epinal (Vosges), France, Plot A, Row 41, Grave 4.
